the trans is a 4 speed auto and its not shifting right. 45mph @ 3-4 rpm. Start out in 1st and 2nd with good power and speed and I m pretty sure 3rd is there- but won t go into 4th which is overdrive- if I m right. What I know is that it isn t slipping or going out- cause it never ingauges. I read in the engine schematic that there are shift solenoids in the tranny if I m not mistaking. Or is it in the ECM? it was hit in the front and the mod is mounted in the front. HELP
Here what I know.. 1997 Sunfire Gt 2.4L twincam- Automatic 4 speed OV. Model type 4T40E (no tran dipstick...smart Engineers) I just bought the car for my daughter to use- It was semi hit in the front and replace all the body parts- I did the front and back brakes- got new struts in the rear. Did a tune up and oil change.
With only the transmission left to work on- I first did a pan & filter change and finally realize it take 7 quarts (spec from owners manual) and still didn t solve the problem. Maybe U can help?

I have a problem with the steering on my 2002 Yaris. When steering on a left hand bend the steering wheel does not return fully when I take my hands from the wheel resulting in the car going around the bend on it s own. The problem is only very slight when steering to the right. I have had a new steering column- electric motor- steering rack and front struts but it has made no difference. Does anyone have any ideas please it s driving me mad.
